A 1/8 beef will usually last a small family (2-3 people) about two or three months if you're not eating beef every day. A larger family (3-5 people) will consume a 1/8 beef in about one or two months if you consume beef regularly. Choose how many 1/8 shares your family needs, and we'll send you the greatest variety of cuts based on the number of shares you purchase.

Each 1/8 Beef will take about 2.5 cubic feet of freezer space, which is approximately 3/4 of a standard freezer in a fridge/freezer combo, or about 1 shelf of a stand-up freezer. You may get away with a 1/4 beef (2 -1/8 beef boxes) in an empty fridge/freezer combo freezer, but if you're looking for 3/4 or whole beef, you're going to need a chest or stand-up freezer.
